Hogs for the Cause Outpatient Unit Coming to Children’s Medical Center Plano

We’ve got big news out of Texas.

Children’s Medical Center Foundation has officially announced Hogs for the Cause’s $2 million gift to support the expansion of Children’s Medical Center Plano. It’s the largest investment Hogs has ever made in Texas, and one of the biggest capital gifts the Plano campus has ever received.

A home for the Hogs family in North Texas

In recognition of the gift, the outpatient unit inside the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Medical Center Plano will be named the Hogs for the Cause Outpatient Unit.

The Gill Center, which operates at both the Plano and Dallas campuses, treats more than 2,000 new patients every year. Our investment will help grow its clinical capabilities in cancer and blood disorders and increase both inpatient and outpatient capacity, so more North Texas families can get specialized care without traveling far from home.

Why Plano, why now

Collin County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, and the need for specialized pediatric care is growing right along with it. Children’s Health opened its Plano campus in 2008 and nearly tripled its bed count with a new patient tower in late 2024. Our gift helps make sure pediatric cancer care keeps pace.

Brent Christopher, president of Children’s Medical Center Foundation, said the gift surrounds families facing childhood cancer “with care, comfort, and community when they need it most.”

“Supporting families facing childhood cancer is at the heart of everything we do,” said Becker Hall, Hogs for the Cause co-founder and CEO. “This partnership with Children’s Health allows that mission to reach even further.”

Made possible by you

Every team, every sponsor, every restaurant on the Trail of Barbecue, and every person who’s ever bought a plate at Hogs Fest had a hand in this. What started in 2009 as a pig roast for one little boy has grown into more than $15 million for hospital programs and charities nationwide, plus more than $3 million in direct grants to over 2,300 families.

And we’re just getting started. As the Trail of Barbecue grows across the country, so does our ability to show up for kids and families in more communities.
